In the trenches
Have you noticed the lack of posting lately? That would be pilot season kicking my butt. I'm average 10 hours of overtime a week and constantly running around during the day. It's enough to burn a guy out, or at the very least turn him into a giant ball of stress. Thankfully, I found my salvation this morning in the form of a Reddit post in r/corgi.

A busy bee
Lots of things to talk about, but unfortunately work is super busy right now so I'll have to post updates in the evening. That said, I saw an amazing show over the weekend called "Absolutely Filthy," I made some great Chorizo Lentil Soup, and I wrestled with Adobe Premiere while trying to edit my video. A rough version is up on Facebook and hopefully I'll have a cleaner version on Youtube that I can post tonight. Later!

Progress!
I'm not going to get the video shot tonight, but I tried recording the lyrics and it sounded surprisingly not bad. I also changed a couple of lines that were breaking the narrative (and tempo) a bit.
Hopefully by tomorrow night I'll have the lines memorized and I can record in one or two takes. If I'm lucky I can surreptitiously stick an earbud in so I can do the lyrics in the video instead of trying to dub them in from a separate audio track.

Or...
I could still be at work because of pilot season. Perhaps my video will need to wait until the weekend.
Inspiration
So one of my friends posted this link on Facebook, which a recipe for Spicy Grapefruit Margaritas. Since I don't have plans for tonight and I just so happen to have a massive grapefruit tree in the backyard I decided to making this recipe tonight. And somehow, inexplicably, "I Like Big Butts" by Sir Mix-A-Lot popped into my head and my brain instantly changed the opening lyrics from "I Like Big Butts" to "I like mixed drinks."
This of course prompted me to hunt down the lyrics and start rewriting them. I've only written the opening monologue and most of the first stanza so far, but it's enough to turn into a quick response video for my friend. If I can overcome my natural laziness and avoid playing computer games I should be able to get it shot and posted tonight.
In the meantime, here's the official music video for the song in question along with both sets of lyrics below it (mine are on the right).

Pilot Season has officially begun! (Almost)
At most there might be one more drama pilot coming down the line, but that's pretty iffy at this point. Currently my boss and I are handling three pilots, which could really be considered two and a half since one of them is a co-production where we aren't the lead studio (i.e., we don't negotiate or paper any of the deals, we just have a say in the finances).
However, we don't have casting directors for either of our pilots yet, so all we can do at the moment is try and lock down directors and line producers. But once a casting director is obtained we'll jump into doing test options and that when things will get busy. I've already started staying late and it'll only increase as the deadlines start looming.
Until that happens though I'm going to continue to try and get in thirty minutes everyday with Duolingo. It's been a little hit-and-miss since I first mentioned it but I finally unlocked a new section and thought I'd preen a bit. :P
