They were fantastic and I was fortunate to have the right kind of large, granular salt on hand. Next time I make them I’ll need to come up with some dipping sauces as well, as I felt it was the only thing missing.
The other new dish I tried out was for Valentine’s Day. Joanna and I came up with the brilliant plan of making Ratatouille to eat while watching Ratatouille, which turned out wonderfully. As a bonus it gave me an opportunity to put my mandoline to good use, slicing up a bounty of fresh veggies. The result is below:
It’s looks delicious, doesn’t it? And I can confirm that was actually the case. While it did take a good deal of prep time (which would likely double without a mandoline) it was absolutely worth it, even if it isn’t the classical way to produce the dish.
I also went back and hit up some of my current stand-bys, Tomato Soup (make sure to follow the top comment suggestions) and Broccoli-Cheddar soup, but since they weren’t new they don’t count toward my New Year’s Resolution.
